Another superb show by one of the UK’s great folk artists. Doing just a few solo shows between big tours with John Spiers and the upcoming return of Bellowhead, we were very lucky to get him. With a superb, soaring voice and fabulous skills on guitar, fiddle, concertina and stomp board, who needs a band when you have Jon Boden?! Many thanks to Keith Belcher for another set of brilliant photographs of the night.
Excellent show from start to finish, & even more enjoyable than Jon’s last solo performance at the Live Room IMHO. Of course, we were allowed to sing this time, but Jon’s musicianship hones year on year to higher level.
I was delighted with his set list, which included my traditional favourites of The Rigs of the Times & Rose In June (bought 3 copies of the latter cd) not to mention a certain feisty ‘lady’ you’d have to get up early to best for the encore!
I felt rather spoilt also getting my favourites from Jon’s Last Mile Home, purchased at his previous solo gig; the two standout tracks that refer to the old stray road.
